Learning About Diabetes Diagnosis, Treatment and Research

Welcome to my site, my name is Jess Indaja. I was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes after struggling with my weight throughout my teen years and adulthood. My doctor informed me about all of the dangers associated with my diet and exercise habits. I was encouraged to change the way I ate and moved in an effort to reverse my blood sugar problem. I made the changes, but still struggle with controlling my blood sugar. After going through this trying situation, I decided to make a site that may help others with problems associated with type 2 diabetes. I will discuss diagnostic procedures, treatments and medical research concerning this disease. I hope you visit often and learn all you can to control your type 2 diabetes or help others with this condition.

3 Signs That You Should Go To Immediate Care Instead Of A Physician's Office

by Carla Hudson

When you think about going to the doctor, you probably think about scheduling an appointment with your primary care physician for care. Although your primary care doctor can help you with a lot of things, his office isn't the only place that you can go for medical assistance. In many cases, an immediate care facility can be a better fit. These are three signs that you should consider going to an urgent care office instead of scheduling an appointment with your primary care doctor.

1. You Can't Make it Before the Office Closes for the Day

Many doctor's offices close at around 5:00 pm, which doesn't make it easy for many people to go to the doctor after work. If you won't be able to get to the doctor's office before it closes, then it's a good idea to contact an immediate care facility. This can be a convenient option if you aren't able to take off of work or put aside other responsibilities to get the medical care that you need, especially since many of these offices are open late and on the weekends.

2. Your Doctor Doesn't Have Any Available Appointments

If you aren't feeling well, you probably don't want to wait a week or longer to see a physician. Unfortunately, however, many doctor's offices have long wait times for appointments, and it could take quite a bit of time before you're able to see your doctor. Luckily, an immediate care center typically allows walk-ins and will see you at any time, so you won't have to wait forever to get the help that you need.

3. It's Serious but Isn't an Emergency

If you are dealing with a sickness or injury that is serious, then it's important to go to an urgent care facility as soon as possible. These facilities are great for sprains, vomiting, fevers and other medical conditions that need to be treated as soon as possible but that aren't actual emergencies. Then, you don't have to worry about going to the emergency room, but you also won't have to wait for a regular doctor to help you with your situation.

Immediate care facilities can be useful for many reasons. Although you probably won't want to trade in your primary care doctor for an urgent care facility, seeing an immediate care doctor when dealing with any of these signs can be a very good idea.
